Frequently Asked Questions

What issues can I bring to counselling?

You can bring anything that's on your mind. Common themes include anxiety, depression, identity exploration, coming out, discrimination, relationship difficulties, trauma, and general life challenges. Whatever you're facing, you're welcome here.

Do I have to be LGBTQIA+ to access counselling?

No — while Liverpool Queer Minds specialises in LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, anyone who values an inclusive, supportive approach is welcome.

Is counselling available for families and loved ones of LGBTQIA+ people?

Yes. At Liverpool Queer Minds, we also offer support for family members, partners, and loved ones of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Whether you're seeking to better understand a loved one’s journey, navigate your own feelings, or build stronger, more supportive relationships, we’re here to help.
Counselling can provide a non-judgmental space to explore questions, concerns, and ways to offer affirming support.

What is your approach to therapy?

Our approach is client-led, relational, and affirming. Sessions are a space for you to explore your experiences at your own pace, without judgment.

That depends on your needs. Some people prefer short-term work (6–12 sessions), others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll discuss what feels right for you.
